Konishi Biyutu Kougei-sya is dedicated to conserving, restoring and re-creating assets using traditional technology in the restoration of traditional and antique pieces of art work. While we base our work and techniques on the use of traditional technologies our company does take advantage of advanced and new technologies to enhance and improve its work, thus blending the two. In addition, to this time honored approach the firm acknowledges the importance of continuing to develop new techniques and passing these on along with its established traditions. We believe that we have a special responsibility to pass our knowledge on to our posterity and instilling a sense of responsibility so as to make sure the principles and knowledge within our firm is passed on without being blemished. Therefore the firm’s objectives are somewhat different and more extensive than those of other commercial companies
We specialize in maintaining, repairing and restoring art objects that belong to shrines, temples, historical buildings and other artifacts considered national treasures or important cultural assets of Shinto and Buddhism. It is the core objective of our firm to provide repairs, restorations and preservation of these objects at the highest quality level and with the highest professionalism.
Our firm has over 400 years of experience in the field of preservation and restoration and has accumulated the expertise that comes with this accretion of training and experience. In addition, only we have five departments, each with its own special skill set and area of concentration (Urushi painting, Gold plate, Brilliant coloring, Houkou metal, Arts and crafts, and Historical documents) with our experts being some of the best.
